Sustain Dane is a Dane County-based nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a community that deeply enjoys, cares for and is sustained by its unique environment.

We know that many of our current practices as communities are not sustainable and that together we need to find better ways to live in the world. We also understand that both local and global trends continue to impact the community, endangering the high quality of life enjoyed in the Dane County area.

Sustain Dane envisions the Madison area to become an inspiring, resilient and sustainable community. We hope that by through our leadership, we can create on-going models of change that focus on institutionalizing sustainability by stimulating, incubating and catalyzing learning, change and community-building towards sustainability.

One such effort is our patented "eco-friendly" RainReserveTM rain barrels system which allows individual the opportunity to reduce storm water runoff, keeping our waterways cleaner and healthier. Rain barrels also conserve energy, which reduces our carbon footprint. Our program has been built on a foundation of sustainable intentions, making it a model for sustainable product design.

The program is a collaboration between area businesses, government and nonprofit organizations. Since 2006, over 3000 Sustain Dane rain barrels have been distributed.
